  • 1.  Caring for oil on Canvas Art works

    Posted 20 days ago

Good Morning All, I am new here and forgive me for this elementary question.  However, I am older and what I believed over 25 years ago may not be true today.

I am the senior curator at a Heritage museum and we have a few works that we have on display permanently.

They look for I do keep them out of direct sunlight.  But, any ideas on the Betsch way to conserve these Art pieces.

All ideas or welcomed an appreciated.

In Christ Holy Service, Lt. Helen

There is basic literature out there for you to read that would help you. Here is a start:

US National Parks wrote conserve-o-grams (although it lacks on paintings): https://www.nps.gov/subjects/museums/conserve-o-grams.htm

CCI (Canadian Conservation Institute) also wrote a bunch of notes (about paintings) and look at the preventive conservation literature too: https://www.canada.ca/en/conservation-institute/services/conservation-preservation-publications/canadian-conservation-institute-notes.html
