NOW OPEN: Conservation Grant Opportunity from Art Preservation Fund

  • 1.  NOW OPEN: Conservation Grant Opportunity from Art Preservation Fund

Art Preservation Fund (APF) is excited to share that the application for the 2026 inaugural grant cycle is now live! The purpose of the grant program is to support conservation treatment and preservation outcomes for specific art and historical collection items held in public trust by small and mid-sized nonprofits — paired with expert matchmaking and public storytelling that strengthens community connection and field-wide advocacy for conservation and preservation.
This is APF's first grant cycle; it will support the interventive conservation treatment of art and heritage items via two funding tracks: one for applicants that already have a treatment proposal and are ready to proceed, and one for those that need an expert to define scope and cost before treatment.

    About Art Preservation Fund
Founded during America’s 250th anniversary, Art Preservation Fund (APF) provides funding and access to conservation expertise for cultural institutions and collections across the United States. Our history and culture are represented by art, objects, and artifacts held in collections across the country, including regional museums, historical societies, and other community-stewarded collections. These are the richest and most fragile part of our cultural record. In an increasingly digital age, these physical collections hold irreplaceable connections to the past and hope for the future, yet limited funding opportunities mean they face imminent threat of permanent loss. APF connects the three groups that preservation depends on: the caretakers who steward collections, the conservators with the skill to preserve them, and the philanthropic partners who make the work possible. APF strives to equitably direct resources to collections in need. We do this through direct grants to institutions with demonstrated need, strengthening field connectivity to pair those institutions with skilled conservators, and the advocacy and public engagement that makes this work increasingly visible and engaging to the broader public.
