Biographical Information:

Samantha Couture has 22 years of experience in book and paper conservation. She received her early training on the conservation staff of the Cornell University Library, where she performed a variety of book and paper treatments on rare materials from the French Revolution and Icelandic collections. She has worked in the the paper lab of Peeble’s Island Resource Center in Waterford, New York on early Dutch manuscripts. She later supervised the conservation lab at the New York State Library in Albany, performing treatments on items from the Manuscripts and Special Collections department, coordinating conservation and preservation activities, serving on the disaster response team, and training coworkers and interns. Samantha created Flyleaf Bindery to work as a private practice conservator. She provides conservation treatments and services to university libraries, historical societies, book dealers, collectors, and individuals. She holds a BFA in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, and MFA in printmaking from Cornell University. Samantha has been a Professional Associate of the AIC since 2007. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Library and Information Science at Simmons College.
