Imaging Working Group

POSITION DESCRIPTION Working with a high degree of independence, the Digitization Specialist will be overseeing the operations of our digitization program. Reporting to the Preservation Services Team Leader and working closely with the Digital Collections Librarian and Digital Preservation Librarian, the Digitization Specialist will be responsible for performing and supervising complex scanning and photography of materials from the Kelvin Smith Library and University Archives collections in compliance with national and international standards. This position will collaborate with various library teams and will actively engage with departments across the campus, including partners in University Circle, to determine and develop goals and outcomes of digitization work. The Specialist will continually explore new technologies to increase the diversity and capacity of digital content produced locally and regionally.

KSL is home to the University Archives and Special Collections and manuscripts consisting of over 17,000 linear feet, the Kulas Music Collection, and the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship which advances research by partnering with scholars and students to explore and develop new forms of scholarship. KSL is a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), OhioLINK, the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), HathiTrust, and the Center for Research Libraries. In 2019 KSL was the recipient of the ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. KSL affiliate libraries include the Cleveland Institute of Art Library, the Cleveland Institute of Music Robinson Music Library, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library, and a cooperative relationship with the Western Reserve Historical Society Research Library. 

QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Education: High school education and 6 years of relevant experience or bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (photography, media production, museum studies, library/information science, art history, etc.). One year or more of experience working in a cultural heritage institution.

SALARY This position offers a minimum of $46,035. The salary will be offered to commensurate with qualifications and experience.
