  • 1.  Door sweep/brush

Does anyone have experience with different kinds of door sweeps or brushes to prevent insects from strolling in under a door? I have three interior doors at the herbarium around which blunder traps have caught a few silverfish. I know the problem is the old building itself, but I hope door sweeps/brushes will set up a little resistance. I'm exploring whether a brush style or a vinyl style would be more effective.

    Hi Nadia,

Silver fish are wily creatures! CCI recommends a vinyl door sweep. According to MuseumPests.net, door sweeps should be properly fitted to exterior doors, and should be snug against the threshold and flush with the doorframe on both sides. They have other suggestions for exterior doors specifically, but could still be useful to you.
