My thanks to Janice for suggesting that Ron contact ALHFAM for help and advice in finding an appropriate appraiser. I'm ALHFAM's volunteer communications manager, and I'm happy to help connect Ron with folks who might be able to help him.
We do have a Facebook page that is used primarily for Association announcements and other related information as well as Facebook pages and groups open to non-ALHFAM members for most of our Professional Interest Groups (PIGs) and regions. Once of the most active FB pages is the one for our Historic Farming PIG, which can be found here. Those wishing to join the group will need to send a request and answer a few questions before being able to post and take part in discussions.
Our listserve is a member-only benefit, but I am happy to post Ron's question to the list and send him the answers, with the caveat that ALHFAM cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information or recommend one appraiser over another. Information about membership in ALHFAM is here.
We have two institutional members in Vermont, Shelburne Farms and Billings Farm and Museum. One of the New England co-regional representatives, Susie Gilmore, works at Shelburne Farms, and would be happy to help.
Please let me know off-list how I can help you further.

If you are not already a member you might try contacting the Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums. I don't see that they have a listserv or FB page, but there is a regional rep and a variety of interest groups that might be able provide information:

I realize you can not recomend a specific appraiser, but I am hoping you could suggest a website where I could find some to appraise the contents of the farm museum at the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vt. We need to find a value of the historic artifacts in order to justify refubishing the buildings that these historic artifacts are in. The artifacts include milk bottles, a creamery bureau, a loom, as horse powered machinery, seeders, threashers and other assorted old farm equiptment. Most of the items in question predate world war one. I could really use some suggestions.
Sincerely,
Ron Hemenway
