  • 1.  Volara used as Gasket

    Posted 10-15-2024 14:44

    Hello Everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can speak to the effectiveness of Volara foam when used as a gasket material for microclimate cases.  Previous cases had used "window weatherstripping" and I am wondering if switching to Volara would be advisable for a museum display/storage context.

If anyone has an opinion of this, I would be interested in hearing it- Thanks!

    Hello Todd,

As the acting C2C Care community monitor, I'd like to thank you for posting this question to the community. I've gathered some resources on Volara for you, including a link to the manufacturer's product resources library:

You may also find the following thread from a PACCIN forum helpful: Gasket that has been Oddy tested

Although the C2C Care program does not endorse any particular manufacturer or product, community members are encouraged to provide additional observations, recommendations, or concerns on using Volara as a gasketing material in exhibit cases.

    Hi Todd,

We have experimented with volara as gasket in a few cases.  Usually, we use CleanSeal silicone gasket- they have recently changed their adhesive, and I still need to oddy test the new product.  The old one tested clean and worked wonderfully.  The volara seems to work well for smaller cases, but this is just my observation after using it in cases with dataloggers inside to monitor humidity levels.
