This newly created role is located at our refurbished offices in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Conservation team. You will be expected to lead on the formulation of the delivery of a pro-active conservation service strategy that gives confidence in the Councils ability to manage the plethora of heritage assets in the district.

You will also be required to engage with multiple stakeholders including property owners, the public, relevant societies and funding bodies etc., (not exhaustive) to ascertain how best to deliver the conservation function in Bassetlaw in conjunction with the Planning and wider Regeneration Service

Other responsibilities:

  • To understand how Conservation is linked to Regeneration ambitions and how one can complement the other
  • To advise the Council on the interpretation of legislation requirements and proactively implement
  • To effectively work with partners, local groups, national funding bodies, private property owners, general public and local businesses
  • To draw up and implement a Conservation Service Plan
  • To work with external bodies on initiatives to improve the heritage draw and resilience of asset in the district such as the County Council, Bassetlaw Business Improvement District, the Place Board, Heritage Lottery Fund, the Ducal Estates, etc.
  • To create effective and innovative solutions to encourage conservation compliance

We want to hear from you if you can offer:

  • Strong partnership skills, with an ability to ensure the delivery of high levels of performance
  • Detailed knowledge of the conservation agenda
  • Experience of working within and managing multi-disciplinary teams across a range of relative areas such as Conservation, Planning and Heritage initiatives,
  • A track record of delivery
  • Strong communication skills
  • A relevant degree level qualification and membership of an appropriate professional body
