On Saturday October 20, 2018, the Freer/ Sackler Galleries will hold a program for three to five year old children (and their adult companions)  on the topic, “Preserving Ancient Cultures”. Conservator Ellen Chase will teach the children  about the conservation of ancient artifacts from South Arabia and guide them in the examination of objects “using professional tools”.  This is not the first time that the Freer/Sackler has offered such a program. It will be interesting to see what the  impact of introducing children to conservation at such a young age will be on their on their concern for preservation issues and their career choices.
