According to reports in many newspapers (See for example  “11 Die as Severe Winds and Flooding Lash Italy”  , The New York Times, October 31, 2018), as in November 1966, continuing strong rains have caused flooding in Venice  damaging St. Mark’s cathedral. This time, the flood waters reached 61 inches rather than the 76 inches reached in 1966. It is fifty-two years since the "Florence Flood" and “Venice Flood” . It is clear that not enough has been done in all of those decades to prevent flooding and damage to the heritage of Venice.
