Following the cancellation of IMLS support for C2C Care, FAIC remains committed to providing resources to small and mid-size collecting institutions. So what does the future of the program look like? How can you support this mission?
Through the support of an anonymous donor and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, we have been able to continue our regular programming through the end of the year. You can expect new webinars and continued access to the archive and community through 2025. As always, you can register for new webinars at connectingtocollectionscare.org.
We appreciate the feedback you've provided about how Connecting to Collections Care helps you grow professionally and meet your collection care goals. It will continue to help us shape the future of the program and advocate for resources to support this community of caretakers. If you have additional thoughts about why C2C Care is important to you and how it helps you and your community, please share them with us: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/95ZXYVB
FAIC is casting a wide net to diversify the financial support for this program to help ensure continued ability to put out new programming, best utilize existing resources, and meet the evolving needs for collections caretakers of all backgrounds, institution types, and budgets. We are dedicated to keeping costs for C2C Care users as low as possible for as long as possible. If you are able to directly support C2C Care as we pursue new funding, you can make a donation to C2C Care here.
We also encourage you to reach out to your elected officials to let them know about the work you do and how the loss of federal funding to support preservation education and training activities impacts you. Consider inviting local, state, and federal representatives to your institution to see firsthand how your work benefits their community and let them know how they can support you, their constituent. Our colleagues at the American Alliance of Museums offer great tips on inviting elected officials and hosting them on their site.
Thank you for being part of our community, your support for this program, and for all you do to care for cultural heritage.
