Hello Archaeological Heritage Network (AHN) community (and interested parties)!
Are you interested in helping the Archaeological Heritage Network AHN in their effort to promote archaeological conservation, support members, and further the goals and objectives of the network. We are now seeking officers! We have several officer positions open including: Secretary/Treasurer, Communication Officer, Program Chair, and Editor. See below (and also attached) for more information on the positions and time commitment.
All AIC members are welcome to apply. Applicants with all levels of experience, at all stages within their career, working within allied specialties and working environments, and with varied backgrounds with an interest in archaeological conservation will be considered in order to make a diverse team. While volunteering is a time commitment, it is rewarding and has many benefits (https://www.culturalheritage.org/membership/volunteer).

AHN Officer Available Position Descriptions
Secretary/Treasurer
One appointed position, 2-year term, ~5 hours of commitment/month.
The Secretary/Treasurer is in charge of recording, retaining, and distributing the official minutes for all AHN meetings (member meetings, officer meetings, annual business meetings, etc.) and works with the AHN Chairs to create meeting agendas and material in preparation for these meetings. The position is also responsible for the network's budget and manages its income and expenses. While spending is approved by all board members, it is the Secretary/Treasurer's responsibility to advise the board on spending and to keep them regularly informed on the budget. The Secretary/Treasurer is in communication with AIC's staff liaison (Ruth Seyler) about expenses and the quarterly income/expense report.
Editor
One appointed position, 2-year term, ~7 hours of commitment/month.
The Editor coordinates, reviews, and revises material related to the AHN wiki, website, higher logic, social media platforms, and any other major public announcements or publications. The Editor is also responsible for tracking the progress of wiki content and leads communication with wiki editors. The Editor may also develop content. The Editor works closely with the AHN Communications Officer and AIC staff.
Communications Officer
One appointed position, 2-year term, ~5 hours of commitment/month
The Communications Officer distributes information and communicates with the AHN members through emails, AHN Facebook, blog posts, AIC News, and other AIC platforms. The position promotes and raises awareness of the group within AIC and within the archaeology community by writing or soliciting columns, blog posts, and articles as appropriate. May serve as an AHN representative on AIC committees as requested. The Communication Office works closely with the AHN Editor and AIC staff.
Program Chair
One appointed position, 2-year term, ~3 hours commitment/month per for non-AIC planning, ~7 hours commitment/month for AIC planning months (Sept-Oct;April-May)
The Program Chair is responsible for organizing the one planned session or panel for AIC, usually joint with another group or network. The Program Chair helps draft and advertise calls for presentations, reviews abstracts and attending meetings as part of the review process, corresponding with presenters, moderating the session(s) at AIC, and helping to plan any social events at the Annual Meeting. A demonstrated interest and up to date knowledge in archaeological conservation research and networking with other professionals is ideal for this position.
