Call for Submissions to Create a Community Poster Center - A Searchable Library of Conservation and Preservation Posters for a Community Audience
Description of the Project
Give your pre-existing posters from AIC, ANAGPIC, WAAC, and beyond a second life! Your Neighborhood Museum is hoping to create a community library of posters that will be accessible and searchable to communities working to preserve their cultural heritage as well as fellow colleagues.
Submission topics will change as the repository grows. The first two rounds of submission requests are topics that are relevant to upcoming events. However, we are happy to continue to receive submissions on these subjects after the deadlines for the larger ongoing poster library.
Your Neighborhood Museum (YNM) believes in building the capacity of our communities to engage both our material and intangible histories and be the narrators of our own lived experiences. We do this by boldly envisioning and thoughtfully experimenting with new ways of utilizing museum services such as collections management, research, conservation and preservation, exhibition design, public program development, and more. The goal is to enable communities to lead efforts towards connection, revitalization, understanding, creative expression and self-determination.
Current Ask
YNM is preparing for an intertribal gathering for collections care and repatriation at the University of Montana, in Missoula, MT on May 12-14, 2026. As co-planners, we are hoping to create a diverse poster exhibit space at the gathering that will provide useful information for the attendees. As conservators, we know that there are many wonderful posters out there that deserve a second showcase. We are hoping to gather a sampling that is relevant to a cultural heritage preservation audience working with tribal materials.
