  • 1.  cast elastomeric polyurethane sculpture conservation

    Posted 14 days ago

Hello!  We have a cast elastomeric polyurethane sculpture that is oozing jet black material at the tip and the tip of the sculpture where it is oozing is disintegrating slowly.  The black material is dripping off the sculpture.  The picture below is not of our sculpture, but depicts essentially what is happening to our piece.

Does anyone have any experience restoring art with cast elastomeric polyurethane?  Any ideas of resources or people to whom we should talk?

    Thank you!

Is the sculpture artist still living?  if so, you should reach out to them.

Thank you for your response, Kathi.  Unfortunately, the artist is no longer living and his estate as well as others that have this artists' sculptures with similar material have similar issues.
