Dear Mrs. Fitzpatrick,
For your purchase, I would suggest you to look on some website about conservation's accessories the various options that are offered.
There are some ready-made options on the restoration's websites, and on some hardwares' objects websites there are various combinable lights as well.
Depending on the object you have to observe, there are some parameters about the lux/h that are to be observed, if the inspection is done very often in a short period of time.
I would also suggest to consider a more white/cold light if you have to evaluate more the chromatic changes in objects than the changes in shape. The white light is more "objective" when it comes to compare the colours changes.
Personally I appreciate and use often a portable small light, which has the ray regulable in width and intensity. This allows me to calibrate the light at the moment and to inspect better the objects.
If you find it necessary there are also some portable lights options in which the light can be mounted occasionally on a static holder. This can be useful if it is necessary to have the hands free to move.
I will remain available to any further inquiry.

Subject: examination light
I need a recommendation for a portable, affordable LED light to examine works of art. At present we use a combination of natural light and overhead lighting.
Thank you,
