    Hello!

I am pretty new to collections management, and my job just got a couple of small-ish marble sculptures. I was wondering if there is any conventional wisdom on how to store marble in terms of type of container or anything like that.

We store ours on covered pallet rack storage. We got them on sale from the state. We prepped the wire rack with a layer of cardboard and a layer of poly. To help keep the dust level low, I went through and covered the entire pallet rack with sheets, held up with magnets.

    Hi Sara,

    Hi Sara,
Thank you for posting this question to the community. This is not a topic I'm conversant in, but the Getty has a reference on preservation of marble. See https://www.getty.edu/publications/resources/virtuallibrary/0892360038.pdf
It notes that marble is porous and that surface grime can adhere easily, even via static electricity. That fact is certainly a good reason to cover these with a material that doesn't encourage static cling.
If you'd like more information, I'd be happy to contact a C2C expert for more specific recommendations. Do you have more information you'd like to share about the objects?
