In conjunction with the University of Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the VITAl Cu (Visual Identification Tool for Archaeological Cupreous material) project team is conducting research on copper and copper alloys from VOC shipwrecks excavated and treated between 1960 and 1990.
Based on feedback from potential respondents, this survey has been revised, and broadened to not only cover previously treated wreck finds, but it now includes all previously treated cupreous archaeological material. This survey is intended to supplement existing literature with the unpublished experience of conservators who have worked or are working with previously treated archaeological finds, particularly those that have had to be re-treated. If this survey is not applicable to you or your institution, please share it within your network with anyone who may be interested!
This fourteen-question survey should take approximately five to ten minutes, but any supplementary information is very welcome!
