Biography

Bart J. C. Devolder received his M.A. in painting conservation in 2002 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Belgium. He held internships at the Akademia Sztuk Pieknych Krakow, Poland, the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA), Brussels and at the Musée du Louvre, Paris. He received a fellowship from the Straus Center for Conservation at the Harvard University Art Museums (2003-2004) and he was the Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Painting Conservation at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. (2004-2007)._x000d_ After his internships and fellowships, he has worked for the Kimbell Art Museum & Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, TX as Associate Conservator of paintings (2007-2012). He went back to his home country of Belgium to work for the KIK-IRPA as the On-site Coordinator/ Painting Conservator for the restoration of the Ghent Altarpiece by the Van Eyck brothers (2012-2018), _x000d_ Bart now works as the Chief Conservator at the Princeton University Art Museum.
