Biography

Kelsey Marino is a second-year graduate fellow specializing in paintings conservation at the SUNY Buffalo State College Garman Art Conservation Department. She completed her summer internship at Gianfranco Pocobene Studio, where she assisted in the glue paste lining of a work by Noël Hallé as part of a collaboration with ArtCare. She earned a B.A. in Art Conservation from the University of Delaware and held pre-program positions at the Winterthur Museum Paintings Conservation Studio, deGhetaldi Fine Art Restoration, Flux Art Conservation, Corp., and various private practices. Recently she assisted in the technical examination and imaging of three paintings by Charles Wilson Peale as part of an authentification project led by the Department of State. This project culminated in a documentary titled "A Peale in Paris" and was featured in the New York Times. She also led an outreach initiative to introduce K-12 students to the life and work of Jean Michel-Basquiat, as part of a technical research project associated with the University of Delaware. In her free time, she runs the Private Project: An Art Conservation Project, which is a series of interviews with private conservators. The project goal is to inform emerging conservators about how to start and navigate within the private practice sector and discuss current issues within the field.
