Low Country Alliance for Response (LAFR)

The rich history of the South Carolina Lowcountry is preserved not only within its many archives, libraries, museums, special collections, and historical societies but also through its cultural landscapes, sites, neighborhoods, and other tribal and historic communities. The Charleston Alliance for Response network aims to increase preparedness and resilience of cultural organizations in the Lowcountry by fostering local connections with emergency responders, supporting organizations in writing emergency plans and training staff, and advocating for inclusion of historically excluded stakeholders. Clemson University’s Warren Lasch Conservation Center is supported by the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, Historic Charleston Foundation, Charleston Library Society, Drayton Hall Preservation Trust, South Carolina Historical Society, and the City of Charleston’s Emergency Management Division in planning the Kick-Off Forum.
