Video Case Study: Asti Sherring - Time-Based Conservation @ Art Gallery of New South Wales

Asti Sherring is the Art Gallery of NSW's first time-based art conservator to work on a dedicated project addressing the outstanding and key issues of the time-based art collection. Previously, she has worked as such notable institutions as The Biennale of Sydney, Museum of Contemporary Art and The National Archives of Australia. In 2017 Asti began postgraduate research in the form of a PhD at the University of Canberra.

How do we ensure that we will still be able to understand, access and use critical information and cultural artifacts in the future? The proliferation and growing complexity of both media formats and media channels creates new challenges to this basic societal need. This session will explore current techniques under development by GLAM professionals to meet these challenges - esp. in the world of digital preservation.
