The Real Estate Section of the Sunday December 22, 2024 issue of The New York Times published an article by John Freeman Gill titled “Saving a Mural Was a Team Effort” which describes the efforts made to rescue the mural “Medical Research Through the Ages” painted by Nikos Bel-Jon in 1961 for the Pfizer corporation’s New York headquarters when the building was sold and slated for interior demolition. Although at the last moment, perhaps due to recent press about the mural ,Pfizer decided that it would give it a home in one of its other buildings, before that decision was made many people were working to prevent the destruction of the mural and locate a new home for it. Sometimes, it might take a village to save a mural.
