    Hello All,

The Architectural Specialty Group (ASG) and the Archaeological Heritage Network (AHN) are excited to announce that we are seeking abstracts for a joint paper and panel session at the upcoming 2023 AIC Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida from May 16-20, 2023.

For this ASG/AHN joint session, we are seeking abstracts that follow the conference theme of, "Conservation in the Age of Environmental, Social, and Economic Climate Change."

We would like to encourage those working in diverse fields to present papers addressing the impact of climate change whether it takes its form as damage to the site itself, effects on finances/project budgeting, training, tourism, or the mechanics of the treatment itself.

Topics might include but are not limited to:

    • Impact of climate change on archaeological sites and landscapes
    • Visitor impact/social change in cities containing archaeological sites
    • Challenges of sustainability: Rising costs of maintenance or treatment due to sustainability or unavailability to perform treatments because of sustainability

If you have a project you would like to share for this joint session, but it does not fit this year's theme, please still submit. All abstracts will be considered

Abstract submissions should be no more than 500 words with an additional speaker biography of up to 300 words.  Submissions are due by Friday, September 23, 2022. Talks are to be a maximum of 15 minutes in length in order to have 40 minutes for the panel discussion. Presenters should plan to be in-person for the panel. We will be publishing joint ASG/AHN written post-prints from each talk following the meeting.

For questions or further information, please contact the ASG Program Chair, Brooke Russell (brussell@evergreene.com), and AHN Chair and Vice Chair, Gina Watkinson and Skyler Jenkins (gwatkins@arizona.edu, skylerjenkins01@gmail.com).
