I would like to encourage members of the Connecting to Collections community to take a look at the revised Bylaws and participate in the forum next week.
Please join us at a scheduled online forum on Thursday, October 26th from 3-4 p.m. ET to discuss the changes. You may register at https://learning.culturalheritage.org/products/aic-bylaws-virtual-conversation.
The AIC Bylaws were updated to incorporate the changes in membership designations that the AIC membership made in December 2021. The Bylaws committee composed of Meg Craft, Leslie Gat, Stephanie Hornbeck, Noah Smutz, and Sarah Stauderman, worked to craft new Bylaws that are clear and legal.
There are three documents to guide your review of the proposed changes in the Bylaws. The first is the narrative (AIC Bylaws Committee Explanation of Recommendations for Proposed Changes 2023) that describes the process and highlights changes. The second document is a spreadsheet (AIC Bylaws Proposed Final Draft) that shows the original 2015 Bylaws and the proposed changes to the 2023 Bylaws, line by line; in this document, the Bylaws Committee offers brief explanations to changes. The third document is the finalized Bylaws (2023 AIC Bylaws Final), as the Bylaws would appear when they are ratified.
On November 1st, AIC Professional Associates and AIC Fellows will receive an electronic ballot to vote to approve the Bylaws as a whole, in concordance with the section VI: Amendments of the present Bylaws. Voting will be open through November 15th at 11:59 p.m. ET. The AIC Board and the Bylaws Committee encourage all eligible voters to participate in the voting process for this important governance document.
The Bylaws Committee wants to thank the AIC Board of Directors, the staff and executive leadership of AIC, and especially Samantha Springer, AIC Board Director and liaison to the Bylaws Committee and Tiffani Emig, AIC Deputy Director, for discerning leadership and support throughout our process.
