Biography

Amaris is an Associate Conservator of Objects at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. In 2018, Amaris graduated from the Winterthur / University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation with a specialty in objects conservation. Having focused her studies in archaeological objects, she completed summer internships at the University of Michigan's Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and the University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (Penn Museum). Her third year placement was completed at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, while also participating in field work with the University of Michigan team at El-Kurru, an archaeological site in north-central Sudan. She completed a post-graduate Mellon fellowship in objects conservation at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Before her current position at Newfields, Amaris was the Assistant Objects Conservator at the Saint Louis Art Museum. Amaris completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, earning an honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Conservation and Art History, with minors in Material Culture Studies and Art. As a pre-program student, Amaris interned at the Field Museum, the University of Delaware, Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library, and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.
