Since 2022, Christopher Augerson has been achieving a second masters degree, in public history (with an emphasis on museum management), at the State University of New York's University at Albany (in the NY State capital district). In addition to being a Professional Member of AIC, he is accredited as a conservator in the UK, France and Belgium. Based in New York State, Augerson Art Conservation Services and Scottish -based Augerson Art Conservation Services U.K. have successfully completed conservation projects for private clients and public institutions such as the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, The National Trust for Scotland, English Heritage, and the Palace of Versailles.
Mr. Augerson received a bachelor’s degree with majors in both chemistry and visual arts from Bowdoin College in 1986. He worked there briefly as a research assistant in infrared spectroscopy and apprenticed in art conservation before completing an M.A. in art conservation from the State University College at Buffalo (1992). He specialized in the conservation of polychrome sculpture through fellowships at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (1992-1993), the Saint Louis Art Museum (1994-1995), and the Belgian Royal Institute of Artistic Heritage (IRPA/KIK, 1996-1997). For a total of twelve years since 1997, Mr. Augerson worked as a Conservator of Paint and Gilding of Carriages at the Coach Museum of the Palace of Versailles (France). Since 1992, he has been proprietor of Augerson Art Conservation Services, currently based in New York State.
