Emma Ziraldo is a conservation scientist and has experience in preventive conservation, environmental monitoring, optical imaging, and diagnostic analysis of artworks. She studied in Italy and gained her MSc in Material Science from the University of Turin and her BA in Technology for Study and Conservation of Cultural Heritage from the University of Milan. Prior to joining the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, she worked for the Getty Conservation Institute’s Managing Collection Environments Initiative, the National Trust, the Oxford Preservation Trust, and the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in the UK. She also held the position of Collection Care Manager: Preservation and Access at a private contemporary art gallery in Milan, Italy. She has a strong interest in exploring environmental management strategies for collections storage and display and damage prevention analysis as well as emergency preparedness planning.
