Fran Ritchie is the Objects Conservator of organic materials at the National Park Service (NPS) Harpers Ferry Center in West Virginia. Prior to working for the NPS, she was an assistant conservator in the Anthropology Objects Conservation Lab at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), working on a renovation project of the Museum's iconic Northwest Coast Hall. She also worked as the Project Conservator for an IMLS grant-funded project researching materials used to conserve historic mammalian taxidermy at AMNH and Yale University's Institute for Preservation of Cultural Heritage. She was also a Mellon Fellow at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian (2013-2015), completed her placement year at Harvard Peabody Museum, and was a conservation technician for Biltmore Estate (2006-2008). Fran completed three terms as an officer for the Emerging Conservation Professionals Network, including a term as Chair (2015-2016). She served on the Nominating Committee (2017-2020) and was an Objects Specialty Group Officer from 2018-2021 (Chair term 2020-2021). She is a Professional Member of AIC.
