Hanna M. Szczepanowska (PhD) is a Physical Scientist at the US Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Hanna was an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University 2019-2022. Prior, she was a Senior Conservation Scientist at the Heritage Conservation Centre, National Heritage Board, in Singapore. She was previously a Research Conservator at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. As a Fulbright Scholar, she worked in Malta and Egypt assisting museums with environmental issues. Her book, Conservation of Cultural Heritage: Key Principles and Approaches, was recently published by Routledge, UK. The most recent book, Biodeterioration of Cultural Heritage, is focused on stains induced by black fungi on paper in a broad context of environmental factors that promote/prohibit bio-staining.
