Ingrid Neuman earned her Masters of Arts, with a Certificate in Advanced Studies, in Art Conservation from SUNY at Buffalo in 1987. She was an Advanced Intern in three-dimensional art conservation at the Conservation Analytical Laboratory and the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution from 1987-1988. From 1988-1992, she was an Objects Conservator on contract with the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History and then a permanent Objects Conservator at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution. In 1992, Ingrid accepted the position as Head of Sculpture Conservation at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center in Williamstown, Massachusetts. From 1992-1996, she also taught in the Williams College Graduate Art History Program. From 2001-2007, Ingrid worked as a Sculpture Conservator at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts while also running her own private practice in the New England area. In 2003, she accepted a position as Part-time Instructor at Tufts University Graduate School of Museum Studies and continues to the present time. In 2007, Ingrid accepted the position as the first full-time Museum Conservator at the Museum of Art Rhode Island School of Design Museum. In 2009, she began teaching a new course entitled “The Art of Art Conservation” at the Rhode Island School of Design which was renamed "The Use and Sustainabilty of Artist Materials" in 2021. Ingrid earned a Teaching Certificate from Brown University in 2010. Ingrid is a Fellow of both the International Institute for Conservation (IIC) and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC).
