Karen Bishop is the Assistant Conservator at the Portland Art Museum in Portland, Oregon. Previously, she held a Mellon Conservation Fellowship at Historic New England. After receiving her graduate degree, she spent a year in Decorative Arts and Sculpture Conservation at the J. Paul Getty Museum. Karen earned a Masters and Certificate of Advanced Study in Objects Conservation from Buffalo State College and completed internships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Portland Art Museum, and Cleveland Museum of Art. Prior to her graduate training, Karen studied Anthropology and Art History at Western Washington University and spent several years working as a conservation technician for private practices in Los Angeles and held a pre-program internship at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
