Biography

Kirsten Dunne graduated from Edinburgh University in 1998 with a first-class MA degree in History of Art. She then went on to study an MA in Conservation of Fine Art, specialising in works of art on paper at Northumbria University, graduating with a distinction in 2002. Her first role saw her establishing a conservation department at MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art before returning to Edinburgh to take up the post of Paper Conservator at the National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) in 2005. Whilst initially employed at NGS as a paper conservator, in 2019 her role changed, and she is now Senior Projects Conservator. This role focuses on Time Based Media, Microfading and the application of Technology to Conservation practice. Kirsten is a committee member of the AIC Microfading Tester International Discussion Group (MFT-IDG) where she serves as Information Repository Officer. She gained her professional accreditation in 2011.
