Sarah C. Stevens is a textile conservator with over 25 years of experience working on all sorts of textiles. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a M.S. in Historic Costume and Textiles, Sarah spent a year at the Textile Conservation Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and another nine months at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, also in New York City. Starting in September 2000, Sarah was the Associate Textile Conservator for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s Bureau of Historic Sites (Peebles Island), specifically for the New York State Battle Flag Preservation Project. In 2010, she founded Zephyr Preservation Studio, LLC and is able to aid institutions, private collectors and owners of family heirlooms in the care and handling of their textiles so they can be enjoyed now and in the future.
