Mark Erdmann earned the Post-Graduate and Professional Development diplomas in Conservation/Restoration of Fine Metalwork from West Dean College, in West Sussex England, and interned at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich England. He is currently working in private practice in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. Prior to this he was head of objects conservation at the Intermuseum Conservation Association (ICA) from 2008-2018, and associate objects conservator from 2006 -2008. At ICA he routinely encountered a broad range of objects including outdoor sculpture, terra-cotta reliefs, site specific artworks, as well as historic and artistic objects of all materials. Prior to employment at ICA, he was in private practice specializing in conservation of decorative metalwork, and spent a year working on outdoor sculpture with McKay-Lodge Conservation. Before entering the conservation field he earned a Master of Music in trumpet performance, and has done research in historic trumpet building techniques and instruments. He is a Professional Member of AIC.
