Biography

Robert Marshall is Director of a Conservation firm that has been contracting with federal, state and local governments since 1985. His works include the first generational treatments of the bronze art and art cast doors of the PA state capitol in 2001 and the maintenance program for the PA Capitol Bronze the last 25 years, State Capitol of Georgia Cupola gilding, Ronald Reagan Fed Courthouse gilding Santa Ana, CA, Several Texas courthouse restorations, the Historic Texas "Painted Churches" restorations in Schulenburg/Fayette County TX areas, The Monuments of Gonzales Texas, the many Cupolas of Southern Methodist University Dallas. The restoration of Fair Park's Federal Tower Building in 1998 and Hall of State in Dallas in 2020 The US Naval Academy Chapel cupola gilding in Annapolis, Numerous monuments and sculptures throughout Texas, Louisianna, PA and the US._x000d_ _x000d_ Awarded several Texas and Dallas Preservation awards for Preservation, City of Pittsburgh Arts Council Award, Mayor of the City of Harrisburg PA and Twice awarded by the National Trust for restoration. _x000d_ _x000d_ Current long term contracts with; The University of Houston Public Art Collection, The State Capitol of Louisiana for bronze art, State Capitol of PA for bronze, City of New Orleans for sculpture, City of Dallas and the City of Fort Worth for sculpture. _x000d_ _x000d_ Mr Marshall studied Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, The training courses at CAL of the Smithsonian and internships in France working in many of the national sites, cathedrals and museums in Paris, Versailles and Reims. Mr Marshall has worked for the Carnegie Museum in PGH, Colonial Williamsburg VA, US Naval Academy American Museum of Natural History and many Historic House Museums throughout the US._x000d_ _x000d_ Director of the Pittsburgh Art Conservation Laboratory from 1984 to 2001 and director of R. Alden Marshall & Assoc, LLC since 2002_x000d_ with studios in Texas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Maine. Currently under contract as the Senior Conservator for the University of Houston's Public Art Collection spanning 5 campuses in South East Texas
