Madison Halaby Gordon is a pre-program conservation technician living in Oakland, CA with a background in bookbinding, letterpress printing, and paper-making. She is compelled by the tensility of material including paper, parchment, wood, and natural fibers generally — and loves making and repairing practical, fun, accessible, and well-made structures for the use and enjoyment of the everyday people. Madison is currently a pre-program conservation technician with the Walt Disney Family Museum, and teaches bookbinding and letterpress courses at the San Francisco Center for the Book. As the descendant of a Nakba survivors, Madison has a deep rooted commitment to conserving artistic, cultural, and archival materials of Palestine and the Arab world.
