Biography

Dawn Kriss is an Associate Objects Conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has also held positions at the Brooklyn Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, the J. Paul Getty Villa Museum, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. Her M.A. in Conservation of Cultural Heritage was obtained from the UCLA/Getty Master’s Program. With a background in Andean archaeology, she has completed a number of related research projects in this region, and also served as chief conservator at the Vitor Valley Archaeological Project in Perú for two field seasons. While she has extensive experience working with museum collection objects, Dawn also specializes in providing training and consultation on multiband (broadband multispectral) and conservation imaging techniques. Dawn has taught multiple broadband multispectral imaging workshops at NYU’s IFA Conservation Center, as well as at other small institutions along the eastern seaboard.
