I formerly worked at a busy shoe repair in Westwood, NJ. I developed fine repair skills in leather repair, working on everything from strap repairs on inexpensive vinyl handbags to repairs on fine shoes and Louis Vuitton items. I had the pleasure of repairing a high heeled ballet shoe for an Off Broadway museum. Unfortunately, as the economy changed, and my economic situation was not ideal, I did not pursue my love of caring for items that needed repair, and I was not able to get an education. Now that my children are in college themselves, I am pursuing my interest in conservation of textiles with my knowledge of leather. Along with my regular home Kenmore sewing machine, I have a Juki industrial walking foot, and most exciting to me, I do own and work on a non electric walking foot patch machine. Currently, I work with zodiac vinyl, and cotton duck, occasionally leather without the toxic glue.
I hope to find a place in this community, and once again be in the profession of repair and restoration.
