Kristie is an accredited conservator with 20 years of experience in preventive and remedial conservation. She has undergraduate degrees in art, chemistry and history from the United States and a double Masters in Conservation from the Institute of Archaeology, University College London.
Prior to her role at MOTAT as Conservation Manager she worked for 11 years with Oxford University where she also served as Head of Preventive Conservation. She has also carried out research projects and work programs for the American Museum of Natural History, NMSI Science Museum, Ashmolean Museum and British Museum. Her specific work interests include environmental monitoring and pollutant research, colour measurement and disaster planning.
Kristie is passionate about advocacy for conservation and is accredited through ICON where she also volunteers as a CPD Reader and Mentor. She served as President of the NZCCM, New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Material - Pu Manaaki Kahurangi, where she chaired the membership committee. She currently works with the National Trust in the UK as National Conservator Conservation Science.
