Kate joined Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY) in 2023 and serves as Preservation Education Specialist. She develops and presents workshops, webinars, and online courses for libraries, archives, museums, and historical organizations across New York State, and provides preservation guidance and technical assistance on collections care, emergency preparedness, and preservation planning. She also conducts Preservation Needs Assessments and helps organizations develop practical, sustainable approaches to caring for their collections.
Prior to joining DHPSNY, Kate founded The Photo Curator, providing photo organizing and collections management services to families, and served as Marketing Coordinator for Archival Methods, a supplier of archival storage and presentation materials. Her museum experience includes positions as Collections Manager at The Strong National Museum of Play and Membership Assistant at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. She received her MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, her MA in Museum Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder, and her BA in History from Colgate University.
