I accomplished my master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration (specialization in photographs) at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT NOVA) in 2009.
I worked for the company Luís Pavão Lda. (LUPA) between 2009 and 2013. During that time, I was part of the conservation team working at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian’s Art Library. This work allowed me to get to know the different photographic processes and acquire practical experience in the management and preservation of photographic collections. At LUPA, I was also responsible for several courses focusing on the identification and preservation of photographic materials.
Between 2014 and 2019 I was a PhD fellow in the Doctoral Programme in the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. The investigation conducted during my dissertation has been of the utmost importance for the development of my scientific background and for a deeper knowledge about the photographic materials.
From 2019 and 2023, I was a visiting professor at Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Escola das Artes, teaching conservation of photographic materials within the Master of Conservation and Restoration.
In 2019/2020 I led a project dedicated to the conservation of the photographic collection by the sports photographer Roland Oliveira, at Museu Benfica Cosme – Damião, during which we developed an innovative methodology for the flattening of negatives with deformation.
I am also a founding partner of NEON Art Conservation, a company dedicated to the preservation of modern and contemporary heritage, where I worked as a manager and conservator. At NEON I expanded my professional experience, through the contact with different collections containing modern and contemporary works, implementation and supervision of various conservation projects, participation in the assembly and disassembly of exhibitions, as well as organization of workshops.
Since 2024 I am an Assistant Professor at the Royal Danish Academy (Institute of Conservation).
