Thank you for posting to the C2C Care Community. As the current monitor of this list, but as a painting conservator, I reached out to our expert list to see what they had to say about your issue. Ingrid Neuman, Senior Conservator at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, kindly responded in this way:
"this glass shade could be repaired by taping it using little surgical tape "bandaids" across the break and then using the optical glass epoxy called HXTAL-NyL and using a toothpick dropping minute drops of the adhesive along the break line so it can wick in by means of capillary action. The residue can be cleaned off with a dry swab. The glue needs about 5 days to cure so the object should not be disturbed during this time. The surgical tape bandaids can be removed with a scalpel. "
I also agree that consideration should be given to the fact that you are talking about a reproduction shade. I believe that
your instinct to simply replace it is valid.
I hope the comments from colleagues has been useful. Good luck!

Subject: adhesive for a glass hurricane shade.
Hello all,
A client has sent me a broken repro hurricane shade for a kerosene lamp.
My first instinct was to suggest that they just replace it.
It is a clean break, but large.
A jeweler suggested glass adhesive for windshield repair
Has anyone had an experience with this type of damage?
Look forward to any ideas.
Best,
Roberta
