  • 1.  Looking for an art packer in Idaho

    Posted 20 days ago

    Good afternoon,

We're seeking recommendations for a professional art handler or packing service in the Ketchum, Idaho area. We've been offered an acquisition of 36 small ceramic objects currently held there, and we need someone to pack them using box-in-box style preparation for ground transport to our museum in Miami Beach, Florida.

If you've worked with a reliable handler in the Idaho region or have referrals for someone with experience packing ceramics for long-distance transit, I'd appreciate your suggestions.

    Thank you,

    Hi Silvia,

I don't have a recommendation off the top of my head, but I've reached out to a couple of people in my network to see if they have any leads in the Ketchum/greater Idaho area. If I hear of anyone who might be a good fit, I'll post an update here.

    Kate

    Hello Sylvia,

I work for Mountain Museum Management, a Denver-based company with experience in art packing/moving. We often travel for these sort of projects, and we'd love to talk with you about helping out! Here is our website for more information:

    Silvia,

One additional resource you might want to explore is the Art Handler Network. They connect institutions with professional art handlers who can be hired on a project basis.

    Silvia,

This information is from Maya Peters-Greño, Registrar at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho:

The only professional packing service we have used is Western Peaks Logistics, and we are very happy with their services. They are also the official transportation company for MAGDA's (Montana Art Gallery Directors Association) traveling exhibits, and they come highly recommended by all the association members.

I am unsure if they will be able to transport the artwork all the way to Florida, as they mostly handle stuff in the Mountain West, but I'm sure they can point you in the direction of someone who can if they can't.
