    Hi IWG!

We are excited about the imaging that is running through the program at this year's AIC Annual Meeting (Minneapolis, May 29-31)!! We have been collaborating with a few specialty groups (Book & Paper, Photographic Materials, and Research & Technical Studies) to plan three sessions! You can take a look at the full conference schedule online. The three sessions are included below, and I am attaching a document with a little more detail about the sessions including the talk titles, presenters, and abstracts.

    •  Imaging Lunch Session (90-min): Foundations of Spectral Imaging of Cultural Heritage Objects (Multiband, Multispectral and Hyperspectral Imaging) on Thursday, May 29 from 12-1:30pm ($35 for lunch ticket).
      • Light-Matter Interaction: Kate Dooley, Imaging Scientist, National Gallery of Art
      • Multiband Imaging: Jiuan Jiuan Chen, Assoc. Professor, Buffalo State University
      • Imaging Spectroscopy (Multispectral and Hyperspectral Imaging): Olivia Kuzio, Assistant Scientist, Getty Conservation Institute
    • Joint Specialty Session on Imaging with Book & Paper + Photographic Materials + Research & Technical Studies + Imaging Working Group on Friday, May 30 from 8:30 - 10am.
      • 8:30-9am "Investigating Transmitted Infrared Imaging to Detect Chalk Media on the Verso of Lined Stradanus Drawings" E. Keats Webb, Perry Choe

      • 9-9:15am "Colorant Detectives: An Interactive Dichotomous Key for Multiband Imaging" L.M. Ramsey

      • 9:15-9:30am "Automating Image Registration with OpenCV-Python: Lowering the Cost Barrier for Multiband and Multispectral Imaging Setups" Jiuan Jiuan Chen, Grace Wilkins

      • 9:30 – 10am "Using multispectral imaging to augment digitized West African manuscripts" Stephanie Growler

    • Imaging Concurrent General Session: Capturing Complexity: Addressing Imaging Challenges Through Collaboration on Friday, May 30 from 2 - 3:30pm. Session includes three imaging presentations.

      • 2-2:30pm "A Partnership Between The City Palace Museum in Udaipur and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York: The Joint Study of Mewar Paintings Through Multiband Imaging" Marina Ruiz Molina, Girikumar Sekharakurup, Anuja Mukherjee, Bhasha Shah

      • 2-2:30pm "Photogrammetry Fast: Developing a New Automated Pipeline" Kea Johnston, JP Brown

      • 3-3:30pm "The Challenge of Chemical Reagents: The Verona Gaius and Vergil Plaimpsests at the Confluence of Technologies" Gregory Heyworth

There will also be presentations that include imaging outside of these three sessions. I will try to gather a list of those to share with the group.

We are also working on a possible tour for the IWG and an informal happy hour!

We hope that we will get to see many of you in Minneapolis in May!!

    Best,

    Keats
